Done on a photo box for the treasure box program for an older boy perhaps.
Pattern was from a Roberta Hall pattern book. But of course I use my own color combos and shades

A vision of Christmas in Winter panting

12 x 14 canvas painted in acrylics

A wonderful couple I have visited in the midwest were wanting a painting of their home but done in a winter scene set up for Christmas. I used a couple photos of the home in the summer for details and added a the decorations on their front porch from their Christmas snapshot. Added a few personal details to it of things they did for craft shows and sent it out to them. They liked it alot.
Here is a pic of their house and the painting done on a wrapped canvas painted to be hung as is or could be framed. If you are interested in having a painting of your home, please email me at beverleyannstudio@gmail.com

Clouds on a warm breezy day

Handpainted on a 4 x 4 paper with acrylics.
this was a JPI (just paint it) for the AAO group, link on the right column on this page.
I sure love to paint clouds as I was told by an teacher once that no matter what your clouds look like it is sure to have been in the sky once. LOL

Hand Painted boxes

Its time to paint treasure boxes ( I use the photo storage boxes from the craft stores) for the kids in hospitals to keep their little things in. This is such a great inspiring nonprofit setup by Jan Mc Craw from Ladybug Creations . If you want more information check out this site

Prim Make Do on Canvas

I am not usually painting Prim but this is so cute and recently I have been watching Terrye French from the Painted Pear Basket on facebook and ebay as well as her website. She does the cutest things ever. While learning to paint I bought several of her patterns and so enjoyed painting them, Have not done that for a while. Here is a free pattern she showed so I cut a piece of canvas and painted it today. She has painted the cutest think spring item and put it up for sale on ebay and I am just waiting for her to make it into an E- Pattern so I can paint it too. keep watching as I know she will soon. Meanwhile here is the cute make do

Just bought another of her patterns and painted just one piece of it, another make do, she has this one labeled holiday make do on her website. there are several and this is just one from the pattern. what fun to paint her pieces.

a few wanted to see this little 3 x 5 painting larger so lets see if this shows up ok

click on the picture to see it larger

thought maybe I should explain better, I had submitted this as an ornament for the Smithsonian Art Institutes Christmas Tree sponsored by the Society of Decorative Painters which is comprised of artists internationally. They wanted to jury 500 pieces however many seemed to have been a bit intimidated with painting from masters art from the Renwick Art Gallery Display. we were to take our inspiration from 70 paintings hung there currently and paint this small painting in our own style. there are some really beautiful ones submitted but unfortunately not the quantity they were hoping for. So lucky me got to have mine accepted for the tree. I am thrilled. I had previously painted a small wooden book for the Library of Congress Tree in 2005 we were to represent our state, one of my very first paintings as I had just retired and begun my new journey of acrylic painting. I used patterns mostly then and that was a biggie for me to step out and paint my own design, since then I do some of each, just loving to paint period. here is a link to mine. http://tinyurl.com/yddvgao
I recently had my eyes operated on for cataracts so have been a bit off kilter. Hope to be adding a lot more paintings very soon. Sheesh how I miss it.

Work in Progress Christmas Angel

This is from a pattern by Pipka, I had the wooden cutout from a garage sale before I actually learned to paint. I am attempting to do it justice. Thought I might post the WIP as I go. It is fun to see others as they paint so I will post it at the point I am, a bit past the beginning but lots of detail to go yet. I did trace her wording but not sure I am happy with it, I like different fonts on things so I might paint over the book words. we shall see. It is 17" tall and 3/4inch thick wood

playing with the wings, pattern calls for the dress color with added white for the feathers, up close looks way tooo bluish, so tried greyish, brownish on the right side a bit. not sure, feathers and I do not go together.

Dog Portrait Hand Painted

This is a friends new puppy. He is too adorable not to paint up. This is a 5 x7 wood plaque. Do you need a painting of your little one to remind you how adorable they are when puppies? Or perhaps a larger size of well loved family member.

Welcome October Sign

This is my original design, I had a couple painting friends trial it and they seemed to be able to paint it without a problem. made me feel pretty good about it. Now do I sell it or not? perhaps, if interested email me at beverleyannstudio@gmail.com 5 bucks thru paypal would get you the pattern, the picture, and the instructions. I will not be available much of tomorrow but after that should be around again. This was painted on a thin
large wooden tag

I also have a cute design for fall that could be worked up quickly into a pattern if interested. I did this one on cardstock to be used as a cute fall greeting card

Fall Harvest Moon

This is my original Pattern Piece

Painted from a challenge on toletown.com

Each month the teachers put up a line drawing and we paint it up in whatever manner we wish and change it in any way that suits us. The harvest vegetables were part of the challenge drawing and I adapted them to be sitting infront of a harvest moon.
In this picture it is done on cardstock cut out to be a free standing card for sending to someone special.

Miniature painting

The Society of Decorative Painters has offered us a wonderful opportunity to have an ornament we painted to be reviewed by the Smithsonian Institute for possibly being displayed on their Christmas Tree. We were give the option to choose from their Renwick gallery paintings to reinterpret and paint in our style. I sure am not a master of painting but this was a fantastic trial for me. I chose a painting by Edward Banister "Untitled" with man and horse done by him in oils on a large canvas sized 22 x 28. However of course the ornaments need to be small. I chose to paint a gold and black frame on mine thus making that painted area miniature in size. The wood piece is 3-1/2 x 5 inches and my painted area is now 2-1/2" x 4". I enjoyed painting this and hope you enjoy seeing what I have done. here is the link to the one at the Grand Salon display in the Smithsonian.

and this is what I have completed.

and then I changed it up again

Painted on a plain piece of canvas, gave it 4 coats of varnish on both sides for durability. A candle holder or a candy dish would look great in the center on a table. Approximately 10 inches round

I started this with a class at toletown.com then saw an Ann Kingslan pattern done in oils in a book I had and decided to try those florals instead. I just looked at the picture and painted.

Painting Treasure Boxes for the Children

Baseball Billy was designed to be used only for the Treasure
Boxes by LadyBug Creations. Please respect the copyright specific to this pattern.

Treasure Boxes
This is a project set up by Ladybug Creations, Artist Jan McGraw. Anyone can participate by painting shoeboxes with removable lids or as most of us are now doing, the photo boxes. They are then sent to a depot and delivered to Shriner Hospitals and some Childrens hospitals for the children there to keep their small treasures in and tucked into their bedside drawer. The nurses love the fact that the children have somewhere to keep their smaller items all in one place (perhaps prizes from games played that day or something special sent to them from friends or family) These tend to cheer them up a bit and seems to be a big hit with them. What a pleasure to be able to do these at minimal costs. Shipping tends to be the most costly but we are told that the regular postal service seems to be about the best. If you love to decorate, scrapbook, paint, why not join in this wonderful endeavor. Here is a link to the website with great information.

She also has a yahoo group that can help with questions and it has a lot of information also.

Here are a few of the ones I just painted up quickly to help with this much needed project.

Tropical Painting

Tropical painting with parrots for my nephew. He made a puzzel with lots of parrots and glued it to be framed to hang, So he asked for something with parrots to go with it, This is what I have so far.

This is 22 inches by 30 inches, I may trim the top to bring it down to a 20 inch and paste it to a foam board of that size then it won't need to be framed.

I figured if I painted a dog that I just had to dig this photo out and give it a try. Yes painted the black cats face but that was in class with a teacher and pattern. This is from a photo. This is on a 4 x 6 hardboard. I kinda just laid it in this metal grey frame I had handy. So what do you think?

Have you ever thought about learning to paint?

No teachers in your area? Well have you given a thought to learning thru online classes?

Thats what I did 4 years ago. I never knew what I had missed. Painting can be so relaxing and so much fun. You can paint on anything from paper to old treasures from thrift stores or garage sales. You can paint on wood, glass, plastic, just about anything.

Need to add some spark to your home without a lot of cost? Paint something on your old jars, candy tins, paper mache boxes. Sit these around the room and see how you will want to do more.

Toletown.com is a great community of all types of artists, brand new to very experienced and they have 2 of the best teachers you could want. They have classes 2 times a month and always something extra for us to be challenged by.
Here is a link to some of the past classe projects, just see the diversity. And once you join for a year for only $38.50 then you have access to these past projects too. they have videos to follow, snapshots of different steps along the way. A schoolhouse with lots of tips and how toos, and so much more stashed in this cyber town. Lots of helpful people that will answer your questions and keep your brushes moving.
Check out these past projects here
http://toletown.com/joyfulheartstudio/selfstudy/ataglance.html

I have kept up my membership for 4 years as I just keep learning more techniques and get lots of free patterns too. Well worth it and lots and lots of fun. they have a tour set up to get an idea of what is offered, you can see that thru this link for free

http://www.toletown.com/tour/

If you decide to join tell them QB sent you, grin. that is an inside story that we love to share.
Hugs to all, Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

My friend Molly just started a great blog

This gal can paint wonderfully. She is a very helpful and friendly lady I have had the pleasure of meeting thru this cyber world on a painting forum. We both belong to toletown now and enjoy learning even more techniques and helping others as we go. Molly has such a talent to envision just the perfect pattern on each piece she paints on. Check her site out and enjoy reading some of her fun excursions as well as learning tips you might not have thought of. Be sure to leave her a comment that you peeked thru her new blog and how much you enjoyed it, tell her I said HI.

Just a quick note

My daughter went to the hospital early Saturday morning thinking it might be delivery time but alas it was not. she was sent home to wait a bit longer, only minor contractions these past 2 days and she is hoping it will be on Friday. so we shall see.
Of course we are very anxious to have the new little one with us. I think we will go to Ohio Sunday to visit when they get home and I can cuddle the precious little one a bit more.
I was there for the birth of the other two and this seems strange not being there waiting with her and being able to see that new one first hand enter the world. We will still cherish it no matter, grin.
Going out to Applebys with my sis and her family later tonite. Know that will be a very nice outing.
Have not been painting at all, guess was ready for a bit of a break but will be playing with the brushes again soon I am sure.
Have gotten email from a wonderful painter from West Virgina and such a pleasure to get back in touch, have not been in contact since 1999 except when we ran into each other at that craft show in Nov. I am glad she emailed. Hope to maybe be able to get together with her and another gal from then.

Only 2 more days left in the year, gosh where o where does that time fly, that means I have to start thinking about another year being added to my age, LOL LOL

If I don't get back

Have a Happy New Year and may our country be blessed with a renewed love for Christ and Hope for our future.

time to post a few things to catch up

Not painting as much, seem to be in a slump, watching tv and such. so had to do something new. Susan Kelley at toletown presented us with a challenge, she drew some shapes and said to use any or all of them to make a picture. I pulled out a gold 13 inch plate that was sealed and went at it. Here is what I came up with.

Santa candlestick holder

Toletown has a monthly challenge where the teachers supply a small graphic for us to paint or do as we wish, I took the cute snowman in a stocking outline and put it on this candlestick. I kinda like him, fun piece to do.

I also did a Mrs. Claus to go with him, sent it to my Secret Santa partner.
